There aren’t many exercises out there that deliver as much benefits as the kettlebell swing:
- It’s a compound exercise that works your whole posterior chain, but mainly your glutes and hamstrings.
- It’s also an awesome fat burner and as a bonus it shapes your butt like no other exercise.
- It strengthens both your back and your abs.
- Another bonus is that the swing’ll help you improve your posture.
- Last but not least, the kettlebell swing is the foundation of the kettlebell snatch – another extremely important exercise in kettlebell training.
I did an amazing workout at the weekend but only just had a moment to write about it!
I asked one of the trainers at the gym to set me a challenge. So he told me about the 10k Challenge he does. It goes something like this -
12 x Clean (10 kg)
300m Cardio
12 x Weighted Squats (16kg)
400m Cardio
12 x Burpees
500m Cardio
12 x Weighted Step Ups (16kg)
600m Cardio
12 x Double Arm Kettlebell Swings (16kg)
700m Cardio
Whole circuit to be repeat 4 TIMES!
He said I could do any cardio I wanted on each round. I started mostly with running and cross trainer, but switched the running for bike towards the end because my knee was weakening a bit. I also chose the resistance exercises myself, but tried to stick with compound as much as I could. I’ll probably mix it up a bit next time :)
I did the whole circuit in 1:15 and it was sooooo cool! Although I ached like hell after! Definitely think I could do better with the weights, can’t wait to do it all over again.
